So today, we went to Brugges, Belgium. We by the meaning of me, my host mother, Marie, my host father, Olivier, my host grand mother, Marie France - Baba, and a friend of my host parents, Greg.
They told me yesterday that we were going to Belgium today. It's not a big thing to go to Belgium from my town. The border line is only 15 minutes and you'll be in Belgium already, in a town called Tournai precisely.

And the capital of Belgium, Brussels, is only 1 hour by car from my house. Brugges, the city we went to today, is only around 35-45 minutes from home. Brugges also know as the Venice of Belgium. Because it has lots of rivers and canals with the Péniche or little ship.
I slept in the whole road and didn't record or capture anything. Then suddenly we arrived in a underground parking lot. The first thing I realized was that I was hungry. So I told Marie, my host mother and she said she is too! Fortunately the plan was eat there as soon as we arrived so my hungry stomach didn't have to wait for long
So we stepped our feet to a restaurant which I forgot what was the name. It looks good though. Fancy European restaurant. We seated there and start looking at the menu and of course, all the menu that looks strange to me. I'm scared to accidentally ordered pork and had to throw it or accidentally buy something so expensive that will make me feel bad because my host parents paid for the foods. So I asked Marie to order for me.
And so all the 5 of us ordered 5 carbonated à la Flemand. I was thinking "the fuck is a carbonated". I thought it's some kind of anything weird in soda and I was a bit scared that it's gonna be the weirdest dish I've ever eat in my life. I mean..... Carbonated? Then Marie explained to me that it's not the shitty thing I thought before. It's meat, that cooked with beer in the process. I was a bit scared because I'm not a big fan of beers in general and then she said but the taste of the beer is not there anymore because basically, the beer is used to make the meat less hard to eat so it will turn to be a really good meat that you can easily eat without the obligation to break a tooth. I was like...... Okay..... I hope it's not as how I thought it is. I hope it's good. I really do hope it's good. |
So basically, this is carbonate. Yes, it looks "only that"? But seriously from deep inside my heart. This weirdly-named food is totally worth the money. 18 Euro for this much. It was so damn good too. Everybody loved it.
I ordered a coca cola zero there as my drink.

Then we visited 3 churches or 2 churches and 1 basilica.
Then of course, we visit The Lake of Love. And as normal Asian, I provoked my hosts to take selfies with me.
Then, we went to drink some hot chocolate then we went home.
What a great day well spent.
